This trench coat has been customized with spray paint by German artist Steffen Mumm, who used his former artist name, Hoker One — a nod to his roots in the graffiti and street art movement.

The artistical approach: His unmistakable style emerges from influences of writing, line and urban aesthetics – developed over many years in different media and with a playful, experimental attitude. With every brushstroke, every sprayed line, every moulded object, he not only explores his own identity and personal growth, but also invites the viewer to engage with the various facets of being human.

The ‘Heads’, on which he has focussed in recent years, are his trademark. Their tension and emotionality arise from the fact that the artist creates them just as intuitively and spontaneously as he does with great attention to detail and technical precision. The heads and their expression are individual and at the same time subordinate to a unifying system. They are as multi-layered as human existence. Steffen’s artworks invite us to immerse ourselves in ourselves and discover the inner core that connects us all.
